Privacy Policy & Terms

One page covering everything: our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Payments & Refunds policy. It explains what data Chatular collects, what we do with it, the rules for using the service, and the limits of our responsibility for AI-generated output. Chatular is currently free to use. If anything is unclear, email support@chatular.com and we’ll explain.

01

The Agreement

Chatular ("Chatular", "we", "us") is a conversational AI you chat with by text, with voice dictation so you can speak instead of typing. It can also create images and files (such as PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents) for you. This single page is our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Payments & Refunds policy combined, so everything is in one place.

By creating an account or using Chatular you agree to this document. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. You must be at least 13, or the minimum age required in your country to use the Service, whichever is higher. If you are under 18, you need your parent's or guardian's permission to use Chatular. Chatular is not meant for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data; if you believe a child under 13 has used it, write to support@chatular.com and we will delete the account and its data. If you use Chatular for an organisation, you confirm you may accept these terms on its behalf.

Chatular is operated by an independent sole proprietor based in Pakistan. You can reach us any time at support@chatular.com.

02

The Service: Free for Now

Chatular is currently free. Chat is available at no cost. There are no paid plans, no subscriptions, and no trials that convert into a charge.

Free does not mean unlimited. We apply fair-use limits, how much AI usage fits in a rolling window, how much storage your conversations and attachments use, how many messages a conversation can hold, and per-minute request limits, so one account cannot exhaust capacity for everyone. These limits can change at any time.

Chatular is in active development. We may add, change, pause, or remove features at any time, and the Service may be unavailable during maintenance or incidents. If we introduce paid plans in the future, we will publish the pricing and billing terms before anyone is charged, and no existing account will be charged without first choosing to subscribe.

Reliability: please read this

Chatular is a new service that changes often, and things can and do break. Your conversation history, individual messages, attachments, the images and files created for you, or share links may fail to load, show incorrectly, stop syncing between devices, or be lost or reset entirely, for example after a bug, a data-model change, or a migration. We are not responsible for conversations or messages that do not show, do not work, or are lost, and we cannot promise to recover them. Please keep your own copy of anything important, for example by copying a reply or downloading a created file. Editing a created file in Chatular replaces it; earlier versions are not kept.

03

If Chatular Shuts Down

We hope not to, but we may discontinue Chatular, in whole or in part, at any time. If we decide to shut the Service down, this is what happens:

  • Notice. We will announce it on the website and email every registered account at least 30 days before the shutdown date, except where an urgent legal, security, or cost reason makes that impossible.
  • Your conversations. During the notice period you can open any conversation, copy its replies, and download the images and files created in it. This is done one conversation at a time; there is no bulk export, so please start early if you have a lot to keep.
  • Paid plans. If paid plans exist by then, paying users keep access until the end of the period they have already paid for, even if that runs past the announced date. No further charges are made after the announcement.
  • After shutdown. Accounts, conversations, attachments, and created images and files are deleted from our live systems, and backups expire afterwards on their normal schedule. The AI-training limitation in Section 07 still applies: anything already absorbed into a model or training set cannot be recalled.
  • Liability. Discontinuing the Service in line with this section is not a breach of this document, and the liability limits in Section 12 apply.

Questions about this? Email support@chatular.com.

04

Payments & Refunds

We do not currently charge for Chatular, we do not collect card details, and no payment is processed. Because nothing is ever billed, there is nothing to cancel and nothing to refund.

If you believe you have been charged for Chatular, email support@chatular.com with the details and we will investigate and return any amount taken in error.

When paid plans launch, this section will be replaced with full billing, renewal, cancellation, and refund terms, and payments will be handled by a third-party payment provider acting as merchant of record, we would never see or store your full card number.

05

Your Account & Chatting Without One

You can start chatting without an account. An account adds saved history, attachments, creating files, voice dictation, and sharing. When you do sign in, we authenticate through a third-party provider using Google sign-in, Apple sign-in in the iOS app, or a code or link sent to your email, we never handle or store your password ourselves.

Chatting without an account

Signing in is optional, but chatting anonymously is not the same as chatting privately. Conversations you have while signed out are still sent to an AI provider and still saved on our servers, the same as any other conversation; you simply cannot reopen them later from the browser. So that a signed-out conversation is not lost when you sign in, your browser stores a random id for it and, on sign-in, that one conversation is moved into your new account. That id is not linked to your name, email, or any profile; it identifies a browser, not a person. We also use a hashed IP address to apply guest limits. If you would rather a conversation were not kept at all, do not send it, there is no signed-out mode in which messages stay only on your device.

You are responsible for activity under your account, for keeping your email inbox secure, and for telling us promptly at support@chatular.com if you suspect unauthorised access. You can delete your account at any time from Settings › Account. Doing so deletes your conversations and files within 30 days (see Section 09, or the step-by-step account deletion page, for what deletion does and does not remove).

06

Information We Collect

You give us directly:

  • Account details: name, email, and profile photo from your sign-in provider.
  • Your content: messages you type, images and documents you attach, text you dictate with the mic, and the replies Chatular generates for you.
  • Images and files created for you: when you ask for an image or a file, we store the finished image or file and the content it was built from, so you can open, preview, edit, and download it again. Changes you make in the file editor are stored the same way. These are created and converted on our own servers.
  • API keys: keys you create in Settings to connect the VS Code extension, the Chrome extension or the CLI to your account. Each key acts as you and can be revoked at any time.

Collected automatically:

  • Usage data: which features and models you use and how much AI usage a session consumes.
  • Device and network: browser, operating system, your device's time zone, and a hashed IP address for rate limiting and abuse detection. We do not store raw IP addresses.
  • Approximate location: the country and, where available, the city that your IP address maps to. We use it to tailor answers (for example, which country's roads or weather you mean, or which regional wording fits) and to detect abuse. The lookup runs on our own servers against a local copy of the database, so your IP address is not sent to a location provider. IP geolocation by DB-IP.
  • The languages you write in: a count per language, with no message text, so Chatular can reply in your usual language.
  • Precise location, only if you turn it on: the "Use my location" button in the chat asks your browser or phone for permission. While it is on, your device's coordinates are sent with each message so that answers about places near you fit where you are. The nearest town is looked up on our own servers from an offline list; the coordinates are used for that message only and are not stored. Turn it off with the same button, or withdraw the permission in your browser or phone settings.
  • A signed-out conversation id: if you chat without an account, a random id your browser generates so limits apply per conversation rather than per page refresh. It carries no personal details.
  • Error logs: failed requests, parser errors, and stack traces so we can fix what breaks.

Voice dictation

The mic in the composer uses your browser's own speech recognition. We never receive or store an audio recording, only the text it produces, which then becomes an ordinary message. Note that some browsers, Chrome among them, do the recognition on the browser maker's servers rather than on your device, so your speech reaches them under their privacy terms, not ours. In the Android app the recognition is done by the phone's own speech service, under that provider's terms. If that matters to you, type instead of dictating.

Chatular for Chrome (browser extension)

The Chrome extension is a side panel for the same account. It sends what you ask it to, and only to our API (api.chatular.ai), when you act: your messages and the images you attach; the page you are on (its title, address and main text) only when you attach it with "Use this page", a right-click action, or the setting that attaches it to every new chat; text you select only when you choose a right-click action or the shortcut on it; and a screenshot of the visible page only when you choose "Screenshot of this page". Your chats are saved to your account like any other; the attached page text, selection and screenshot are used for that reply and are not kept in your history (small thumbnails of attached images are). "Write here with Chatular" puts a draft into a text box only when you press "Insert into page". Your API key, the email and name of the account it belongs to, and the extension settings stay in Chrome on your computer and are never synced. The extension does not read pages in the background, collects no analytics, and has no access to your browsing history, cookies or passwords. It asks for access one site at a time, and you can remove a site, revoke the key (Settings → API) or uninstall the extension whenever you like.

AI images and photos

Every picture Chatular makes for you, whether a design or a photo painted from your words, is AI-generated. The image model embeds an invisible, machine-readable watermark in each photo so it can be recognised as AI-made; we keep the picture as the model returned it, and you must not remove or obscure that marking when you use it. When you attach a photo to be changed, the photo and your words go to the image provider to make the edit, and the finished picture is stored with your conversation like any other created image. On the Picture page, a photo you add is also kept in your account so you can use it again, for example with a template; you can delete it there at any time, and it is deleted with your account. We do not use faces to identify anyone, build no facial-recognition profiles and keep no biometric templates; a face in a photo is processed only to produce the picture you asked for. Only upload photos of other people with their permission: a recognisable person in a photo you attach is their personal data, and you are responsible for having the right to use it.

We do not sell or rent your data and we do not run third-party advertising cookies. We may use privacy-respecting analytics that aggregate usage without identifying individuals.

07

How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

  • Run the Service: send your message to an AI provider and stream the reply back to you.
  • Save your work: keep your conversations, attachments, created images and files, and share links so you can return to them.
  • Apply fair-use limits: count AI usage, messages, and storage against your allowance.
  • Protect the platform: rate-limit abuse, detect policy violations, and suspend accounts that repeatedly break the rules.
  • Improve Chatular: analyse failed requests and feature usage to make it more reliable.
  • Contact you: service, security, and account emails. No marketing without your consent.

AI training: please read this

We may use your prompts, uploaded images and documents, voice transcripts, generated replies, the images and files created for you (including your edits to them), and ratings to train, fine-tune, evaluate, and improve AI models and our own pipelines, in original, modified, derivative, or anonymised form. Deleting a conversation or your account does not undo this. Anything already absorbed into a training set, evaluation, model weight, or backup cannot technically be recalled. We do not sell raw training data, and where an AI provider offers a no-training opt-out for data we route through them, we enable it by default.

Lawful bases (EU/UK GDPR)

Where GDPR applies we rely on: contract (running your account and conversations), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, debugging, improving and training our models), consent (optional integrations and any marketing), and legal obligation. You may withdraw consent or object to legitimate-interest processing by emailing support@chatular.com.

08

How We Share Information

We share data only in these narrow cases:

  • AI providers: the prompt, images, and conversation history needed for a single request go to whichever third-party AI provider serves it. If you are signed in, your first name goes with it so replies can address you. Each has its own privacy terms. Today that may be any of DeepSeek, fal.ai, Google (Gemini), OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, Groq, Together AI, OpenRouter, xAI, Alibaba Cloud (Qwen), Moonshot AI (Kimi), Zhipu AI (GLM), Cerebras, SambaNova, Fireworks AI, NVIDIA, Cohere, Ollama or Routeway; which one serves a request depends on the model chosen for it. The list changes as the Service develops, and this page is where we keep it current.
  • Infrastructure: the cloud, authentication, database, storage, and content-delivery providers we use to run the Service, plus integrations you explicitly connect.
  • Site icons: when a reply shows its sources, your browser loads the icon of each site from Google, which receives the name of that site and your IP address.
  • Legal obligation: if compelled by valid legal process. We may notify you where lawfully permitted, but are not obliged to.
  • Business transfer: if Chatular is acquired or merged, data may transfer to the successor under the same protections.
  • Links you share: a reply, conversation or sheet you share is readable by anyone with its link, without an account, as it was when you shared it. Anyone who signs in can save a copy of what you shared into their own account and continue it; that copy is theirs, and it stays with them even after you delete the conversation or its link stops working. Deleting the conversation turns its links off. Share only what you are happy for others to keep.

We never share your prompts, conversations, or account details with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing networks.

What the AI provider keeps

The AI provider that serves a request may keep the prompt, any attached image and the output for a limited period to detect abuse of its service, and may have a person review requests its systems flag. How long it keeps them, and whether it may use them to improve its own models, is set by the provider's own published terms, not ours. We do not control that retention and cannot shorten it or delete from it on your behalf.

Who at Chatular can read your conversations

We would rather say this plainly than leave you guessing. Your conversations are stored on our servers in a form we can read, they are not end-to-end encrypted, and an administrator can open them. Chatular is run by one operator, and the admin console we use to run it can list and read conversations, including the images and files created in them and those started without an account, and can open an account in a read-only view to see it as you would. It is not anonymised, and you are not notified when it happens.

We use that access only when there is a reason to:

  • Support: reproducing a problem you have written to us about.
  • Debugging: finding out why a reply failed, a thread broke, or an attachment would not load.
  • Safety and abuse: investigating activity that breaks Section 10, or a credible risk of harm.
  • Legal obligation: responding to valid legal process.

We do not read conversations out of curiosity, and we do not hand them to anyone outside the cases in this section. But no policy can remove the underlying fact, so please treat Chatular like any other hosted service: do not paste passwords, card numbers, API secrets, or anything you would not want a person at the company to be able to read.

09

Retention, Security & Your Rights

How long we keep things

Your conversations live as long as your account does. Conversations started without an account are not attached to any account, so nothing deletes them on your behalf; they are kept until we clear them and remain readable to us. Deleted conversations are removed from your account immediately and permanently deleted within 30 days, together with the attachments, images, and files that belong to them. Operational data, request logs, audit rows, request traces, security events, is kept as long as we need it for debugging, abuse prevention, and security; we do not commit to a fixed period. Deleting your account (how to) removes your sign-in record and stops your share links working at once; copies that others already saved from your links are theirs and are not deleted. Your conversations, attachments, and the images and files created for you are permanently deleted within 30 days, along with the name, email, and photo on your profile, the record of the languages you write in, and the list of topics you often ask about. What had already been used to improve AI models before then cannot be recalled (Section 07). Backups and legal-hold records persist for as long as their purpose requires.

How we protect it

All traffic uses HTTPS. Sign-in credentials are handled entirely by our third-party authentication provider. API keys you create are stored securely and can be revoked at any time. IP addresses are hashed with a server-side salt before storage. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your own backups of anything important.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Email support@chatular.com and we will respond within the timeframe the applicable law requires. Note the AI-training limitation described in Section 07, we will delete what we can reach, but data already absorbed into a model or backup cannot be recalled.

If you chatted without an account

A signed-out conversation carries no name or email, so we cannot look it up from an email address alone. You can still ask us to delete it: write to support@chatular.com with the rough date and time you chatted and a line or two of what you asked, and we will find that conversation and erase it. We would rather over-delete than leave something you want gone.

10

Acceptable Use

Do not use Chatular to create, host, or distribute anything that:

  • Is unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, or infringes someone else's rights.
  • Involves child sexual abuse material, credible threats, weapons or bioweapons instructions, or content that facilitates serious harm.
  • Harasses or defames people, or unlawfully exposes their personal data.
  • Distributes malware or spam, or is designed to disrupt or break into systems.
  • Reverse engineers, resells, or abuses the Service or its AI providers, or circumvents usage quotas, rate limits, or security controls.
  • Creates an intimate, nude or sexual image of a real person without their consent, whether painted from words or by editing a photo (including "undressing" or "nudifying" edits), or asks for one. In several countries, including the UK and the US, making such an image is a crime even if it is never shared.
  • Depicts a real person, living or dead, in a way that could deceive, defame, harass or impersonate them, including false images of public figures or elections, or that mimics a person's likeness or voice for a scam.

We run automated and manual moderation. Violations can lead to blocked requests, content removal, suspension, or termination, and serious cases may be reported to the relevant authorities.

Intimate images without consent: how to report one

If an intimate image of you, real or AI-made, has been created with Chatular or appears on a shared page, you can ask us to remove it whether or not you have an account. Use "Report this chat" on the shared page, or email support@chatular.com with the link or the rough date of the chat, a statement that the image shows you (or a person you are authorised to act for) and that you did not consent to it, and a way to reach you. We remove the image and any copies we can find promptly, and within the time the law requires, after a valid request, turn off the share links that carry it, and do not reinstate it. We may also suspend the account that made it and report serious cases to the authorities.

11

Your Content & Ownership

You keep ownership of the prompts and files you submit and, as between you and us, of the replies, images, and files you generate, subject to the terms of the underlying AI providers.

You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, process, transmit, and display your content as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service, including the AI training use described in Section 07. You are responsible for having the rights to submit your content and to use the output for your purpose.

Chatular itself, meaning the name, logo, software, and design, belongs to us. Nothing here grants you the right to use our branding beyond using the Service as intended.

Microsoft, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation, and Adobe and Acrobat are trademarks of Adobe Inc. They are named here and in the Service only to say which programs open the files Chatular makes. Chatular is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Microsoft or Adobe. Other product names belong to their owners.

Instagram and Facebook are trademarks of Meta Platforms, Inc.; TikTok is a trademark of ByteDance Ltd.; YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC; LinkedIn is a trademark of LinkedIn Corporation; and X is a trademark of X Corp. They are named in the Service only to say which platform a design is sized for. Chatular is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of them, does not use their logos, and does not post to their services.

Google Play and the Google Play logo are trademarks of Google LLC. The "Get it on Google Play" badge appears in the Service only as the link to the Chatular Android app.

Apple and the Apple logo are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. App Store is a service mark of Apple Inc. The "Download on the App Store" badge appears in the Service only as the link to the Chatular iPhone app.

12

AI Output, Disclaimers & Liability

AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable for your purpose. You are responsible for reviewing and checking any answer before you rely on it. Chatular is not a substitute for professional advice of any kind. The same goes for files it creates: check the figures and formulas in a spreadsheet, and the wording of a letter, contract, CV, or report, before you send, sign, or act on it.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that output will be accurate. In particular, we do not warrant that your conversation history or messages will be stored, displayed, synced, or available, and we are not liable for any that are missing, broken, or lost (see Section 02).

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months (currently zero, as the Service is free) or US$50. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or any rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory laws of your own country.

13

Termination, Changes & Governing Law

You may stop using Chatular and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, with or without notice, if you breach this document, create legal risk for us, or harm other users. Sections that should survive by their nature, ownership, disclaimers, liability, and governing law, continue to apply after termination.

We may update this document at any time. The current version is always on this page, so please read it from time to time. Continuing to use Chatular after a change takes effect means you accept the revised version.

This document is governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan have jurisdiction over any dispute, without limiting mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence. Questions? Email support@chatular.com.

14

Website Chatbots (AI Agents)

Agent lets you build a chatbot that answers on your own website from what you tell it, and the chat widget you install there is part of the Service. Two people are involved: you, the owner, and the visitors who talk to it on your site. For a visitor's personal information you are the controller and Chatular is your processor, acting on your instructions under this document. Everything else in this document applies to your own account as usual.

What a chatbot stores

Each conversation a visitor has with your chatbot is saved on our servers under your account: the messages and replies; the visitor's name and email if they typed them in the form or your page passed them to the widget; the page they were on (its address and title); the country their IP address maps to, looked up once when the conversation starts (the address itself is not kept in the conversation); their thumbs up or down on a reply; and which of your API actions each reply called. The visitor's browser keeps a random visitor id and the conversation id in localStorage so a reload or the next page continues the same chat; it carries no personal details. The widget sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties. A login token your page gives the widget for a signed-in visitor stays in memory only and is passed to your own API when an action calls it; we do not store it.

What goes to the AI

To write each reply, the visitor's message, the recent turns of that conversation, your About your business text, the passages of your files and websites that match the question, and the result of any action called are sent to the third-party AI provider that serves the request, as described in Section 08 and in "What the AI provider keeps". Finding the matching passages uses an embedding model from a provider in the same list. Which provider serves a given request depends on the model we have chosen at the time; the list in Section 08 is the current one, and your own privacy notice should point to it rather than copy it.

What a chatbot knows

The text you write in About your business, the files you upload and the pages we read from the websites you give are stored under your account and used only to answer that chatbot. Nothing is shared between chatbots or between accounts. Deleting a chatbot deletes its conversations and its knowledge; deleting your account deletes every chatbot in it.

What you must do as the owner:

  • Tell your visitors. Your site's own privacy notice must say that the chat is provided by Chatular, that what they type is processed by Chatular and its AI providers to produce the reply, and that conversations are stored and can be read by you. Link to this page for the details; its address always holds the current version.
  • Have the rights to what you add. Section 11 applies to your knowledge text, files and websites, and Section 10 to how the chatbot is used.
  • Answer your visitors' requests. A visitor who asks to see or delete their conversation is yours to answer: Conversations lets you read and delete each one. Write to us if you need help.
  • Own your actions. An action calls your own API with what the visitor said and, for a signed-in visitor, the token your page gave the widget. What that API returns and does is your responsibility.
  • Don't ask for more than you need. Do not use a chatbot to collect health, payment-card or other sensitive data unless you have a lawful basis to do so and have told your visitors.

Who can read the conversations, and for how long

You can, in Conversations and Contacts. Chatular's administrators can too, in the way and for the reasons set out in "Who at Chatular can read your conversations" in Section 08. Conversations stay until you delete them, delete the chatbot or delete your account (Section 09), and Section 07 applies to them as to any other conversation.
