AI chat inside VS Code
Open the Chatular panel in the VS Code sidebar, attach the file you are editing, and ask. When the AI proposes a change, you see it as a before-and-after diff and accept or reject it, so nothing touches your code without you.
Setup in a minute
Install Chatular from the VS Code Marketplace. On chatular.ai, open your profile › Settings › API and create a key. Run Chatular: Set API Token in the Command Palette, paste the key, then Chatular: Open Chat.
File-aware by default
The file you are editing is included as context on every send (you can turn that off), and the workspace file list, paths only, tells the AI what else is there. Attach any file with Chatular: Attach File to Chat.
Edits you approve
With edit mode on, the AI proposes changes as diffs. Accept one and the file opens as a before/after comparison the moment it is applied, so you always see exactly what changed. Reject and nothing happens.
Saved to your account
Conversations sync to your Chatular account. Resume them in the editor or on the web; they are listed on their own surface so the web timeline stays tidy.

Questions
- Does it change files without asking?
- No. Every proposed edit is a diff you accept or reject. Turn edit mode off in the extension settings to get code in the chat only.
- Is my code sent anywhere?
- The files you attach, and the open file when auto-attach is on, are sent to the Chatular API with your question so the AI can read them. The workspace tree sends paths only.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing while Chatular is in beta. It uses the same fair-use limits as your account.
- Which editors?
- VS Code and editors built on it that read the VS Code Marketplace, such as VSCodium with the marketplace enabled.
