Ask AI questions about your files
Drop a contract, an invoice, a lecture PDF or a screenshot into the message box and ask. Chatular reads the file alongside your words and answers from what is in it.
What you can attach
PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx), CSV, Markdown and plain text, plus PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF images. Spreadsheets are read sheet by sheet and presentations slide by slide, so you can ask about one column or one slide.
Attach from the + button, paste a screenshot with Ctrl + V or Cmd + V, or drag a file onto the message box. Each attachment stays with your message, with View and Download, so you can come back to it later.
What to ask
Summaries, explanations, comparisons and extraction all work: "what are the payment terms", "list every date in this document", "which rows have a negative balance", "what does the chart on slide 4 show". Ask a follow-up and the AI keeps the file in mind for the rest of the conversation.
From a file to a new file
Ask for something new made from what you attached: a summary as a one-page PDF, the key figures as an Excel sheet, the main points as slides. The reply comes back as a file card you can preview, edit and download. See writing documents with AI.

Questions
- How large can a file be?
- Images up to 5 MB each. Document limits depend on your plan; the message box tells you when a file is over the limit before anything is sent.
- Can I do this without signing in?
- Guests can attach one image per conversation. Documents (PDF, Word, Excel and the rest) need a free account.
- Is my file kept?
- Attachments are stored with the conversation in your account so you can reopen them. Delete the conversation and they are removed with it; see the Privacy Policy for the details.
- Can it read a scanned PDF?
- If the PDF contains real text, yes. A scan that is only a picture of a page is read as an image, which works for short, clear pages.
